The Art Tutors

A few years ago Cassandra and John discovered a small private art school in London, which taught them the fundamental principles of drawing and painting using traditional  techniques. At Bowland Atelier they now both teach these time honoured methods. Whilst you will learn a lot, it is not an intimidating experience. John & Cassandra's classes are informative, fun and friendly and designed for everyone to feel welcome and inspired, regardless of experience or ability.

  • Cassandra Batterby

    Cassandra has been a professional artist since graduating with a first class degree in fine art in 2011.  She has a love of the landscape, which is reflected in her work as a successful country sports artist.  Cassandra has a real passion for supporting students to fulfil their potential as artists.

  • John Rotherham

    Portraiture and the figure have always been at the heart of John's work.  He exhibited for several years with galleries in London, and in shows in New York, Paris and Singapore.  In recent years he has focused on commissions.  As a tutor, John is passionate about sharing traditional drawing and painting techniques with students.
